Diamond World MD Dilip remanded in murder case

A Dhaka court today (4 September) placed Diamond World Limited managing director Dilip Kumar Agarwal on a three-day remand in a case over killing BNP activist Ridoy Ahmed during recent student-mass movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the order as police pleaded for seven-day remand for Dilip, who was arrested by Rapid Action Battalion on Tuesday midnight from Gulshan area.
Court sources said Ridoy was killed as police started firing indiscriminately on agitating students and people in Badda area on 19 July.
Shahadat Hossain, joint secretary of BNP's Shibchar upazila unit of Madaripur district filed the case on 22 against August 161 persons including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana and Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
