We should be careful so India cannot push people into Bangladesh
The BJP government has been carrying out it for the last six years as part of their internal politics
Dhaka University Professor Delwar Hossain suggested Bangladesh should be careful so that neighboring India cannot push even a single person into Bangladeshi territory.
The International Relations Department teacher told The Business Standard: “The process of NRC update is not completed yet. The BJP government has been carrying out it for the last six years as part of their internal politics. The list is gradually getting shorter. However, we don’t want anyone to become a victim a rivalry between the state and the Centre.”
About Bangladesh’s response to NRC process in India, he said: “Those who are not named in the list still have scope to seek intervention from the court. Before that, Bangladesh has nothing to do. However, the country should keep its eyes open so that the issue doesn’t turn into a Rohingya crisis-like situation. There should be preparations so that no one is pushed into the country.”
