Army IBA Photographic Society hosts 1st National Photography Fest 2024
The Army IBA Photographic Society (AIBAPS) successfully organised the National Photography Fest 2024 at the Army Institute of Business Administration (AIBA) in Jalalabad Cantonment, Sylhet.
Dedicated to commemorating the July Massacre, the event aimed to honour the martyrs through the power of visual storytelling while providing a platform for aspiring photographers and videographers from across Bangladesh to showcase their talents.
The fest featured competitions in photography (mobile and DSLR categories), videography, online video commercial (OVC), wall magazine, and a photography quiz. Participants creatively expressed their interpretations of various themes, strongly emphasising the July Massacre.
In the mobile photography competition, Ashiqur Rahman Sakib won first place, followed by Mohammad Tuhin Al Islam and Md Faisal Ahmed in second and third, respectively. Naftaun Naeem secured first place in the DSLR photography category, with Biswapriyo Bhattacharjee Kabyo and Tanvir Tasnim taking second and third. The videography competition saw Team Raise & Shine, consisting of Erin Akhter Ema, Fawjiya Yasmin, and Mashrura Meshkat Punno, win the first prize. For the online video commercial competition, Team Agreed, led by Md. Nagis Khan, Abu Bakkar Siddik, and Gourab Kumar Poddar, took first place. In contrast, Team Blossom (Rimjhim Riyan, Saraf Nower Rodela, Sabikunnahar Mahi) and Team Itish-Pitish (MZM Zahin, Al Razi, Md Shifat) took second and third places, respectively. In the wall magazine category, Rising from Ashes by Kazi Shabrina Siddiqa Mariam Tondramoni, Ismita Jahan, and Sariyan Binte Hasan won first place. At the same time, Footprint of Sacrifice by Erin Akhter Ema, Nusrat Zaman Sujana, and Mashrura Meshkat Punno came in second, with July revolution by Naimur Rahman Rafi, Imtiaz Hamim, and Aftab Mahmud receiving special mention. In the photography quiz, Ashiqur Rahman Sakib secured first place, with Md. Rakib Khan and Tasfia Tabassum Subah coming in second and third.
The event was judged by a panel of esteemed professionals, including Sha Waliul Monzur, Business Development Manager of ACCA Bangladesh; Sheikh Abusiddique Rokon, Deputy Registrar (Photo) at Islamic University, Kushtia; renowned photographers Abdul Munayem and Md. Ali Ashraf, Assistant Professor at Army IBA Sylhet; Md. Fakhrul Islam Chowdhury, GM Admin & HR at Al Haramain; and Iftekhar Nur Tamim, Trade Marketing Executive at Akij Group.
The event was organised in association with Al Haramain, powered by ACCA Bangladesh and PentaNova Education. The Army IBA Photographic Society's National Photography Fest 2024 served not only as a platform for creative expression but also as a moving tribute to the victims of the July Massacre. Through photography, videography, and visual arts, the event honoured the memory of those who lost their lives, inspiring future generations to reflect on the past and learn from it.
