Helicopter service launched for RMG workers battling with high prices in industrial areas
Start-up enthusiast Mishuk Abrar believes RMG workers can live in cheaper areas and commute easily with his innovation

In a bid to ease the price burden of industrial areas on readymade garment workers, a helicopter service was launched today (12 October) for them.
Mishuk Abrar, the brain behind the initiative, said it was high time to really look into the struggles of RMG workers.

"Most RMG workers are concentrated in two industrial zones of our city. As the number of factories grows, so does the density of workers. Too many people in one small area has resulted in the hike of prices of goods, services and even rent," he explained.
Due to this, Mishuk's plan is to offer the RMG workers some respite. "With Chopper, RMG workers can easily live far away from the industrial area and commute with ease," he said.
Asked about the price of the service, Mishuk said it was price upon request.
"Listen, this is a premium service. Eventually, we hope to roll out more affordable options. But you must understand, a helicopter costs, like a lot. For many, this will be the first time they got on one, so you can also add the unique experience to the pricing," he said.
Mishuk thinks his helicopter solution will be key to unlocking the repeated deadlocks the RMG industry faces.
"The industry has been rocked by protests in recent months. Workers are demanding even more wages. What will they do with this extra money? Obviously improve their standard of living. That's where Chopper comes in," he said.
On the issue of seed money, Mishuk pointed out this wasn't his first failed start-up.
"Sometimes the market isn't ready for really bold innovations. For instance, my 'Hire a Chhatro' – instant bodyguard at your fingertips – didn't really pick up, especially since many of my employees escaped after August. But, the transport sector is ripe for disruption, so here we are."
When pushed further about the seed money, Mishuk said he had secured a loan for the initiative.
"Actually, my father owns a few RMG factories. So, I can really relate to their struggle. Like, look man, I totally get it. I tried ordering a pizza during my visit to one of the factories and the delivery cost was wild. I also hope to establish a property nearby for the workers to live in and Chopper from. But I haven't been able to grab all the land yet," he said.
Mishuk also pointed out his logo. "I googled 'Workers rights colour' and the fists also came up. Well, they will sure be paying me hand over fist anyway!"
