Shahid Afridi named Chattogram Kings' brand ambassador
The announcement was made through a post on the team’s official Facebook page.
Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has been unveiled as the brand ambassador for Chattogram Kings ahead of the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season.
On 15 october, Chattogram Kings teased a major announcement, which sparked speculation after they used the phrase "Boom Boom" in a promotional image, a term synonymous with Afridi. The speculation proved correct as Afridi was officially named the brand ambassador for the team for the forthcoming BPL season.
Afridi, who played in the BPL earlier in his career, featured for Dhaka Gladiators during the initial seasons and later represented Dhaka Platoon and Rangpur Riders. This marks his first association with the BPL as a brand ambassador.
Chattogram Kings are aiming for a strong campaign this season, having assembled a competitive squad through direct signings and the players' draft. Key players include Shakib Al Hasan, Angelo Mathews, Shoriful Islam, Moeen Ali, and Mohammad Wasim Jr. The team has also added young talents, including Shamim Hossain Patwary and Parvez Hossain Emon, both members of Bangladesh's U19 World Cup-winning side.
The BPL players' draft took place on 14 october, and the tournament is set to begin in january if all goes as planned. Chattogram Kings are expected to mount a serious challenge for the title with their star-studded line-up.
