Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury shown arrested in case filed by BNP: Sources
BNP filed a case centring the violence in front of the party’s office last year with the Paltan Police Station on 14 September soon after the ouster of the AL government
Trinamool BNP Chairperson Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, who was detained earlier, has been shown arrested in a case filed by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party on 14 September, sources at the Detective Branch of the DMP said this evening (17 October).
According to the sources, there was a massive attack and even abductions in front of the BNP's central office in the capital's Nayapaltan on 28 October last year.
Following this, the BNP filed a case centring the issue with the Paltan Police Station on 14 September soon after the ouster of the AL government.
During the investigation of the case, Shamsher's name cropped up.
The DB police raided Shamsher's Banani residence this afternoon and detained him.
He was then taken to the DB office, according to a source.
DB Joint Commissioner (North) Mohammad Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan confirmed that Shamsher Mobin was arrested based on specific information. He will be produced in court tomorrow.
Speaking to The Business Standard, Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) of Motijheel Division Shahriar Ali said Shamsher was arrested in a case filed with Paltan Police Station.
