What is Cyber Monday?
But for the past few years, the distinction between the two has become blurred with more Black Friday deals becoming available online
Black Friday sale has gained the acclamation as one of the biggest shopping movements all over the world, but there is another major most awaited event for the shopping lovers called "Cyber Monday" – but we know very little about it.
Both days offer people the chance to make huge savings on everything from games consoles to laptops ahead of Christmas, but as Black Friday has come to an end, Cyber Monday is your last chance to grab a bargain from international retailers like Amazon, Argos, Currys PC World, John Lewis & Partners and Apple – all of which have seen discounts of up to 80 percent off thousands of products, reports Independent.
Although the items and sale offer may remain similar to Black Friday, there is a slight distinct difference between these two.
Every year Cyber Monday takes place the Monday after Thanksgiving, and this year it is 30 November – means today!
The first Cyber Monday took place in 2005, after a press release by a group of online retailers with the title, "Cyber Monday quickly becoming one of the biggest online shopping days of the year".
The day was conceived following on from research conducted in 2004, which found that the Monday after Thanksgiving was supposedly one of the biggest online shopping days of the year. From there, the term "Cyber Monday" arrived.
What's the difference from Black Friday?
The difference between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is that traditionally the former was only for discounts that you could buy in-store, while the latter was dedicated to online shopping.
Which has completely changed this year.
But for the past few years, the distinction between the two has become blurred with more Black Friday deals becoming available online.
Black Friday originally began as a one day event, but it has quickly expanded to cover the entire weekend, with big-name brands slashing their prices for several days.
Adobe Analytics has been tracking Cyber Monday spending for the past few years and for the last four years it has shown a pattern of year-over-year growth. Like in 2019 the sale was worth $9.4 billion, whereas from 2016 to 2018 every year the sale saw an upward growth.
Typically, Cyber Monday is a strictly 24-hour shopping window but, much like Black Friday, some retailers' discounts can flow into the next few days leading it to be dubbed "Cyber Week".
So this might be just your chance to avail the things that you might had to skip or were sold out to grab with amazing prices and deals.
