Human rights activists demand 4G network in Rohingya camps
Almost 70,000 Rohingyas live in one square kilometre area in Rohingya camps. Social distancing rules cannot be maintained properly in the camps because of overpopulation.
Human rights activists have requested the government to act more humanely towards Rohingyas.
Researcher Dr Meghna Guhthakurta, Professor Dr Redwanul Haque, Professor Dr Parvin Hasan, and 22 other eminent human rights activists signed a press release on Monday and demanded that the government ensure freedom of speech, free flow of information and freedom of movement.
The human rights activists said almost 70,000 Rohingyas live in one square kilometre area in Rohingya camps. Social distancing rules cannot be maintained properly in the camps because of overpopulation, according to the press release.

They expressed fear that coronavirus would spread severely in these camps if anyone gets infected.
They said the workers engaged in the service of humanity are having trouble in supplying health information to the camps because uninterrupted mobile and internet connection is not available in the camps.
This is increasing the risk for the health workers to be infected by the contagious virus, the press release said.
They demanded an uninterrupted 4G network connection in the Rohingya camps.
The human rights activists said local people are having trouble communicating with IEDCR. The people must have uninterrupted network facilities"
The activists said proper quarantine facilities need to be ensured for the Rohingyas. They demanded that the government pay special attention to the camps so that no Rohingyas, especially the women and children do not suffer from insecurity.
