AARTHO: Tales of Bangladesh through art
AARTHO showcases 41 captivating artworks by 15 talented artists, celebrating Bangladesh’s landscapes, culture, and identity through diverse styles and mediums
Picture yourself strolling under soft lights, the atmosphere calm and soothing, as music plays through your headphones. In this still setting, 15 talented artists present 41 unique art pieces, each composed in different mediums and styles, all under one roof. From intricate sketches and serene paintings to thought-provoking abstracts and delicate watercolours, there is something for everyone to enjoy at the Plat-forms Gallery in Baridhara.
The art exhibition, AARTHO, is open for visitors until 12 January, displaying a world of various artworks, each showing different tales of culture, emotion, and identity.
The exhibition showcases two to three works by each artist, focusing on themes like the beauty of rural Bangladesh, Old Dhaka, rivers, landscapes, abstract representations of geographical locations, boats in Cox's Bazar, and summer migratory birds. The selection of the artworks feels like a celebration of the prettier sights of our country.
"You'll find several fascinating pieces here. For instance, Imtiaj Islam, a professor at Khulna University, presents his series 'Ajanta to Sketchbook,' which captures the essence of his travels through his sketches," said Sultan M. Mineduddin, Curator and Head of Business Operations at Plat-forms.
"Another highlight is Suborna Morsheada, who has developed a distinctive colour palette over the years and strictly adheres to it. Her abstract works include the moon-inspired series 'Britto,' which can be interpreted as either a moon or a simple circular form. Her canvases prominently feature shades of blue," he added.
Popular artists include Hasura Akther Rumky, with her evocative portraits; Shohag Parvez, who brings Bangladesh's diverse landscapes to life; and Kamruzzoha, whose works engage with social and political themes.
Other artists like Al Akhir Sarker, Anisuzzaman Mamun, and Guffar Babu bring unique interpretations, from rural heritage to bold contemporary prints. Imtiaz Islam, Suborna Morsheada, and Tarek Amin explore powerful themes such as transformation, love, and identity, all contributing to a remarkable exhibition of the finest Bangladeshi talent.
AARTHO not only celebrates and appreciates diverse artists and art forms but also serves as a reminder of the charm of our landscapes and riversides—the magic of our cities that we often overlook amidst the chaos of our busy lives.
