Age is just a number
Aged actors cannot look as young as they would like to, but in this era of make-up, prosthetics and “digital de-ageing”, everything works out!
Actors have been known to play roles of characters much younger or older than their real age, and most of us have been smitten by films such as "The Age of Adaline" or "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" because of their exceptional stories about ageing (or not ageing rather).
Teenage characters are more often than not played by actors who are well into their 20s and 30s. For example, actors from the hit Netflix series "Derry Girls" are all in their 20s but play the roles of high school students.
In fact, Nicola Coughlan, who is now 32, played the role of Clara Devlin - the cutest of them all with golden bangs.
Everyone loves Tim Burton and his quirky, mad, magical stories that intrigue viewers from all over the world. His immensely popular film 'Big Fish' starred Helena Bonham Carter as her younger self and a witch. She was mind blowing in the latter role and looked like a proper witch.
Not all of the roles became a hit, though; when Amitabh Bachchan played a young boy with progeria in 'Paa' (2009), the film was critically acclaimed but his look was not very well received. Although the story line was unique, perhaps Big B was not best suited for this role.
The rules of ageing, however, do not apply for Dhallywood where stars like Jashim, Manna and Shabnur have acted as "young college students" even when they were in their late 30s and 40s.
As a matter of fact, one of the most clichéd roles played by Jashim in his big, bold wig and moustache is that of a young boy who always stands first in all of the examinations.
For obvious reasons, aged actors cannot look as young as they would like to, but in this era of make-up, prosthetics and "digital de-ageing", everything works out!
