BNP to host Victory Day concert 'Shobar Agey Bangladesh' on 16 December
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is set to organise a Victory Day concert titled "Shobar Agey Bangladesh" on 16 December at Manik Mia Avenue in Dhaka.
"For the past 15 to 16 years, the people of Bangladesh have been unable to truly celebrate Victory Day. They have endured oppression and injustice under the fascist Awami League government. That's why we are taking this initiative to celebrate Victory Day by bringing the nation together," said BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee during a press conference held at Uday Tower in Gulshan on yesterday (10 December).
"This year, we aim to present ourselves to the people of Bangladesh, particularly the youth, with new hopes and a fresh perspective. The concert will begin at 3pm on 16 December at Manik Mia Avenue," Anee added.
The event will feature solo performances by renowned artists, including Syed Abdul Hadi, Khurshid Alam, Kanak Chapa, Baby Naznin, Monir Khan, Kona, Imran, Pritom, Moushumi, and Xefer. Additionally, popular bands such as Nagarbaul, Ark, Shironamhin, Artcell, Shonar Bangla Circus, Avoid Rafa, Different Touch, and Souls will perform.
The organisers confirmed that the concert will exclusively showcase local talent, with no foreign artists being included.
The social and cultural organisation "Sobar Agey Bangladesh" made its public debut at the press conference, pledging to preserve and promote the nation's culture.
"Sobar Agey Bangladesh is focused on uniting the youth, students, and people of the country by prioritising our culture," Anee said.
He further said, "Bangladesh achieved independence to stand on its own, not to remain subservient to Delhi. Our journey is centred on introducing the new generation to the rich, unique heritage of Bangladesh."
The press conference was attended by BNP leaders Rashiduzzaman Millat, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Nationalist Swecchasebak Dal President SM Jilani, Jubo Dal General Secretary Nurul Islam Nayan, and Media Cell members Atikur Rahman Ruman, Zahidul Islam Rony, and Ehsan Mahmud.
