Photo Fest Asia 2024: A global celebration of creativity
Photo Fest Asia 2024, an international photography exhibition organised by the East West University Photography Club (EWUPC), took place from 20 to 23 November at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Originally planned for July, the event was postponed in solidarity with the July Revolution, adding a deeper resonance to the occasion.
The four-day exhibition showcased 110 photographs selected from over 7,200 submissions worldwide, featuring contributions from countries such as India, Myanmar, and Iran. A special highlight was a 36-photo tribute to the July Revolution, blending historical significance with artistic expression. The exhibition drew significant crowds, with daily attendance exceeding 1,500 visitors and peaking at 2,500 on the final day.
The event was inaugurated by Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan, Youth and Sports Adviser to the Interim Government, and concluded with a visit from East West University's Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Dr Mohammad Ashik Mosaddik.
More than an exhibition, Photo Fest Asia 2024 became a platform for dialogue and inspiration, uniting professionals, emerging talents, and enthusiasts. Despite initial setbacks, the event stood as a testament to resilience, creativity, and the universal power of storytelling, leaving a lasting impression on the global photography community.
