21 new Bangladeshi players added to PSL draft pool
Previously, eight Bangladeshi cricketers were announced in the platinum and diamond categories.
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has expanded its draft list, adding 21 Bangladeshi players to the silver category.
Previously, eight Bangladeshi cricketers were announced in the platinum and diamond categories. The inclusion of these players means a total of 29 Bangladeshi cricketers will be part of the draft pool for this year's PSL.
The PSL player draft, set to take place on 13 January at Lahore Fort, features 510 overseas players from 19 countries.
The tournament is scheduled to begin in April and conclude in May, coinciding with the Indian Premier League (IPL). This timing could lead PSL franchises to target players overlooked by IPL teams.
The platinum and diamond categories, revealed on 4 January, include Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, Mahmudullah Riyad, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Rishad Hossain, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Towhid Hridoy. These top-tier players will likely attract significant attention from PSL teams due to their proven track records.
The silver category, announced later, adds several prominent Bangladeshi names: Afif Hossain Dhrubo, Akbar Ali, Alis Al Islam, Enamul Haque Bijoy, Ariful Islam, Jaker Ali Anik, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mukidul Islam Mughdho, Nasum Ahmed, Nazmul Islam Apu, Rony Talukdar, Rejaul Mia, Sabbir Rahman, Saif Hassan, Shamim Hossain Patwari, Shahidul Islam, Shariful Islam, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Yasir Ali Rabbi, and Zakir Hasan.
While some of these players are currently in good form, others bring potential and excitement despite recent inconsistencies.
Their performances in domestic leagues like the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) are likely to influence their selection.
