Bangladesh national football team’s Facebook page hacked
The BFF issued an official statement addressing the incident, apologising for the inconvenience.
The official Facebook page of the Bangladesh football team has been hacked, with numerous posts featuring clips from foreign films appearing since yesterday.
So far, seven such posts have been shared from the page, leaving no doubt that it has been compromised.
Upon noticing the issue, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) immediately began efforts to recover the page.
However, as of now, the governing body of Bangladeshi football has not regained control of it.
Speaking to The Business Standard, BFF's media manager Sadman Sakib confirmed the hack. He explained that while the page has around 78,000 followers, it is not verified.
Nonetheless, it remains the official page of the national football team. He also clarified that there is a separate verified page under the name "Bangladesh Football Federation."
Sadman stated, "The official Facebook page of the Bangladesh football team has been hacked. Since last night, we've noticed unexpected videos being uploaded to the page. That's when we realised it had been hacked or compromised by a hacker."
He further added, "From last night, we've been trying to contact Facebook's support team. There are certain processes to follow, and since the page is not verified, recovering it might take some time. However, we are hopeful that we will be able to retrieve the page, and the football federation is doing everything possible in this regard."
The BFF also issued an official statement addressing the incident, apologising for the inconvenience. The statement read, "The official page of the Bangladesh national football team has been hacked. The Bangladesh Football Federation is working to recover the page. We apologise for the temporary inconvenience."
