Dhaka too strong for hapless Sylhet

Dhaka Platoon once again flexed their muscles to win by 24-runs against a Sylhet Thunder side bereft of ideas and inspiration in their Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League match at Mirpur.

The win takes Dhaka to four points from three games with two wins while Sylhet are winless from their three games.

The tone was set early on in the first innings as openers Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque formed an 85-run partnership.
Tamim was eventually gone for 31 in a steady innings he played off 28 balls but Anamul continued to play his shots and reached his half-century.
Anamul top-scored with 62 off 42 balls in an innings that had eight boundaries and a six.
With a solid platform laid, Dhaka finished off in style as Thisara Perera (22 runs off 11 balls) and Wahab Riaz (17 runs off 7 balls) blasted the Sylhet bowling to all parts of the ground.
In reply, Sylhet started off with a bang as Rony Talukdar and Johnson Charles showed attacking intent during the powerplay overs but lost their wickets in quick succession.
After their dismissals, Sylhet started to meander along and lose regular wickets and were 61-5 when Mohammad Mithun was dismissed for eight runs in the eighth over.
Mosaddek Hossain and Nayeem Hasan then formed a partnership to give Sylhet a bit of hope but that went when Nayeem was run-out for 10.
Delwar Hossain then came in a played a few shots but the asking rate kept rising as he fell victim to Dhaka captain Masharafe bin Mortaza.
Mosaddek continued to play his shots and scored a half century but it was too little, and too late for his team as he remained not out on 60 in an innings with six fours and two sixes.
