Djokovic reveals 'energetic disc' as his latest secret to longevity
The Serbian, renowned for his alternative health practices, is aiming for an 11th Australian Open title and a record 25th Grand Slam singles trophy in Melbourne this month.
Novak Djokovic has unveiled a unique addition to his wellness regimen—a green "energetic disc"—which he believes is helping him stay healthy and extend his tennis career.
The Serbian, renowned for his alternative health practices, is aiming for an 11th Australian Open title and a record 25th Grand Slam singles trophy in Melbourne this month.
The 37-year-old showcased the device, roughly the size of a dinner plate, in a recent Instagram video. Designed by a Serbian engineer, the disc allegedly generates an electromagnetic field that supports various bodily functions.
"It's an energetic disc that creates an electromagnetic field, and the secret lies in its pattern," Djokovic explained. "When placed on a specific part of the body—like the stomach, where I often experience stress-induced issues—it generates heat, enhances metabolic activity, or reduces inflammation."
Djokovic further detailed its usage: "I carry several of these discs with me. On flights, I might place one on my head or other areas. They're not meant to be used for extended periods—20 to 30 minutes usually suffices."
Known for his eclectic approach to health, Djokovic has often incorporated unconventional practices into his lifestyle. He follows a plant-based diet, meditates regularly, and has previously spoken about using hyperbaric oxygen chambers and "healing pyramids." He has also claimed that positive thinking can alter the molecular composition of water and food.
His spiritual interests extend to Melbourne, where he famously hugs a particular tree for grounding and focus. However, these practices, combined with his vaccine scepticism, have sometimes led to controversy. Notably, Djokovic was deported from Australia during the 2022 Australian Open over his refusal to comply with Covid-19 vaccination requirements.
Djokovic begins his Australian Open campaign on 13 January, facing American Nishesh Basavareddy.
