Guardiola questions his methods after City’s defeat in Turin
The loss marked City’s seventh defeat in their last ten matches across all competitions, a concerning run for manager Pep Guardiola.
Manchester City's struggles deepened as they suffered a 2-0 defeat against Juventus in Turin on 11 December, leaving their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread.
The loss marked City's seventh defeat in their last ten matches across all competitions, a concerning run for manager Pep Guardiola.
In a post-match press conference, Guardiola admitted to reflecting on his managerial approach amidst the club's poor form. "Of course, I question myself," he said.
"I do so in both good moments and bad. Stability is key for me, regardless of the situation. My challenge remains to deliver results that justify my position as a manager."
City's latest setback has left them precariously close to elimination from the Champions League. They sit just one point above the bottom 12 places, which would see them exit the competition.
With two matches remaining in the league phase — against Paris Saint-Germain and Club Brugge — City trail the top eight places, which guarantee progression to the last 16, by five points.
Domestically, City's form in the Premier League has also been underwhelming.
They trail leaders Liverpool by eight points and face a critical clash against local rivals Manchester United this Sunday.
