Langeveldt for bowling in right areas
The Bangladesh preliminary squad is gearing up to start their new home season.
Newly-appointed pace-bowling coach Charl Langeveldt has asked pace-bowlers to continue bowling in the right areas to make the success rate better, said the national team pace-bowler Shafiul Islam on Monday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday.
“Any bowler can taste success if he bowls in the right areas regardless of the condition or opponent. It (bowling in the right areas) is very important. The new coach is working on it with us,” Shafiul told the reporters.
The Bangladesh preliminary squad is gearing up to start their new home season with the solitary Test against Afghanistan which is set to be played from September 5 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
Shaiful hopes the management will arrange a wicket that will be helpful for the bowlers along with the batsmen.
“We don’t know what kind of wicket we’ll get in Chattogram. But it’ll be great if they prefer to arrange bowling-friendly wicket. However, we’re preparing to play at any sort of wicket,” Shafiul added.
Recently, Shafiul played for the national team in their tour to Sri Lanka for a three-match ODI series. He did well in the series taking six wickets.
The 29-year-old pacer is hopeful to replicate the same performance in Test cricket as well if he gets a chance.
“I have been playing international cricket for nine years. I represented Bangladesh continuously during the first three years of my career. After that, my international career was halted due to injuries. Now, if I get chance regularly, I’ll try my best to win games for Bangladesh,” Shafiul further said.
Shafiul played a total of 11 Tests, 59 ODIs and 12 T20Is, and bagged 17, 69 and eight wickets respectively. The right-arm pacer is known for his ability to swing the ball around the wickets.
