Litton Das sets unwanted BPL record with most ducks in top order
The player who shares this dubious distinction with Litton is Anamul Haque Bijoy, who also has 10 ducks in the top order.
Litton Das, the talented wicketkeeper-batsman, has been enduring a difficult run with the bat lately. After being dropped from the national team earlier, he made his return but has struggled to regain his usual form.
Despite showing brief flashes of promise, including a modest performance in the BPL's opening match, his recent innings have seen him dismissed for ducks, adding to his growing list of failures.
On 2 January 2025, against Durbar Rajshahi, Litton walked out to bat for Dhaka Capitals but was sent back to the dressing room without troubling the scorers.
His duck in this match marked his 10th duck in the top order across the 11 seasons of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). With this, Litton now holds the unwanted record for the most ducks in the top order in the history of the tournament, surpassing previous records set by other notable players.
The player who shares this dubious distinction with Litton is Anamul Haque Bijoy, who also has 10 ducks in the top order.
However, Bijoy, who has also had his own struggles with consistency, holds the record for the most ducks in BPL overall, having been dismissed for a duck 13 times in 121 matches. Following him are Soumya Sarkar and Mashrafe Bin Mortuza, both with 11 ducks each. Litton, with 10 ducks, now finds himself among these players.
Litton's recent run of poor form has been especially hard to overlook. Within just six matches, the right-handed batter has been dismissed for a duck three times, including two ducks during Bangladesh's recent T20 series against the West Indies.
