Sabbir, Mominul unpicked in BPL 2024 draft
There were a few notable names who went unpicked in the draft. Sabbir Rahman, once a much-sought after T20 player who played in the national team even in 2022, couldn't find himself a team.
The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), the country's premier T20 tournament, will take place in January next year and ahead of that, the players' draft of the tournament was held on Sunday. The teams have been busy signing players directly for the last few days and with the draft coming to a close, they have filled the final few spots as well.
There were a few notable names who went unpicked in the draft. Sabbir Rahman, once a much-sought after T20 player who played in the national team even in 2022, couldn't find himself a team.
Former Bangladesh captains Mominul Haque and Mohammad Ashraful went unpicked as well. No team showed interest in 39-year-old all-rounder Alok Kapali and seam-bowling all-rounder Farhad Reza too.
Opening batter Munim Shahriar, who was a revelation in the 2021 BPL and played 5 T20Is for Bangladesh on the back of a strong tournament, went unpicked surprisingly.
