Tendulkar was 38 years old at the time, and he had to wait for over a year between his 99th and 100th international ton.

Tendulkar scored 114 runs off 147 balls with 12 fours and one six, helping India to 289/5. Sachin received a Special Recognition Award in the post-match presentation.
But his party did not last long. Tendulkar's ton ultimately went in vain as the Tigers ruined the party by beating India by five wickets.
Bangladesh chased down the target with four balls to spare, with Shakib Al Hasan's 49 in 31 balls helping them reach 293/5. Opener Tamim Iqbal (70), Jahurul Islam (53) and Nasir Hossain (54) all scored half-centuries. India was knocked out in the group stage.
Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan delivered an improbable win for Bangladesh that left Sachin Tendulkar's record 100th international century in the shade.
It was, however, a collective effort from the Tigers.
Tamim provided the base, Nasir accelerated when it mattered, Shakib was given the freedom to attack thanks to Nasir, and Mushfiqur added the final blows.
The game was hung in the balance until the 48th over of Bangladesh batting. Tigers needed 37 off 24 deliveries. Mushfiqur Rahim took Irfan Pathan to the charge and took the game away with two over boundaries in the over.
In the midst of this revelry, somehow Sachin's century is pushed to the background. It wasn't one of Tendulkar's better hundreds and will ultimately be remembered only for being the one that brought up the unprecedented landmark. In fact, it was his second-slowest innings of 100-plus in ODIs and ended up restricting India's progress.
