World Cup winners Argentina could visit Bangladesh this year
The BFF has already contacted the current World Champions, according to Salahuddin, who also revealed that they received a positive reaction.
The Argentina team may visit Bangladesh this year for a friendly match, according to Kazi Salahuddin, president of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).
Messi led the Albiceleste to their third world championship by defeating France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar in December of last year, making Argentina the current world champions.
"This is not something concrete. Nothing has been finalised yet. But we are trying to bring them in June-July this year," Salahuddin said.
The BFF has already contacted the current World Champions, according to Salahuddin, who also revealed that they received a positive reaction.
"We got a positive response from them. They said they are interested," he said.
"We thought about [bringing] PSG but there is a problem. We would have had to bring PSG in during the window for pre-season friendlies. And after May 2023, Messi will run out of his contract with PSG. So, our aim is to have Messi visit Bangladesh. If he runs out of contract with PSG then what's the point of inviting PSG?" he added.
On 6 September, 2011, Messi and Argentina last paid a visit to Bangladesh for a friendly match against Nigeria at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
