Whales around the world in real and imminent danger

By far the biggest threat is becoming accidently captured in fishing equipment and nets, which kills an estimated 300,000 whales, dolphins, and porpoises a year, reports BBC

A dead Irrawaddy dolphin washed ashore in the Bay of Bengal on a sunny morning. A local man grabbed it by the tail and brought it out of the water. The dead mammal lay on the sandy beach and became a reason of curiosity for tourists. A child watched it from afar, perhaps wondering how a “fish” can be out of the water. Another family walked past it taking quick glances. A group of youth took photos of it, while a couple on a motorbike posed with the dead mammal. Photo: Aninda Kabir Avik
