A glittering Eid
There are some jewellery brands who are providing unique, iconic, and unusually appealing designs
Remember our Eid shopping days when we were children? Those days were beautiful.
All those discussions surrounding what, where and for how much. All the hours discussing with glee the ornaments, all the glittery bits of joy. And then we grew up. But that excitement never goes away seeing something intricate and glittery.
There are some jewellery brands who are providing unique, iconic, and unusually appealing designs. We find what two such design houses are up to.
6 Yards Story
6 Yards Story is well known for their warm designs combined with gold, silver and brass. Zerin Tasnim Khan, an architect, started this exercise in design back in 2012. A graduate from the Department of Architecture, Brac University, she had a preference for dabbling in handicrafts.
Zerin loved to put together her own ornaments and people were drawn into the allure of the custom work. She aims at putting in personal touches whether it is a simple anklet upcycled from a shattered necklace or a full blown bridal jewellery set.
Their 'Shishir Bindu' set is a prime example of how they fuse traditional value with contemporary design elements. This set is made with real rice pearls arranged in three parallel lines. In the middle of the neck piece, there is a golden circular body escorted by an antique floral motif.
The subtle hues will go well with white or off-white katan sharee and reflect the vibe of a diva which goes to support that the most wanted products from 6 Yards happen to be their neo-antique productions.
The price range for their products vary from Tk300 to Tk30,000. They are available on Facebook and Instagram; people from abroad also can place orders on Amazon.
When we asked about their Eid planning, Zerin stated that during this Covid-19 situation people are generally keeping away from arranging heavy programmes for marriage ceremonies.
Many are opting for simple, small events and as a result, 6 Yards is designing manageable yet elegant designs for the brides. They also go the extra mile by adding customised letters or notes with each gift product.
A8poure
The brand A8poure started their journey in July 2015. They gained immense popularity for their aesthetic metal plate creations and dedicated service.
A8poure is the brainchild of Ipsita Humayra living in Germany. She is a student and working as a business developer currently. From her childhood, she was fascinated with ornaments, handicrafts and designs.
She told us that they collect materials from their home country and they mostly use metal in their ornaments. Their stone works on metal received huge attention from the very beginning.
They design the ornaments in such a way where the customers can use a single neckpiece for different occasions. A light silver plate with yellow stones will go with any night party wear, at the same time it can serve a whole day with a bright fit-for-summer look.
'Selene', a noteworthy neckpiece made of original navy blue, sky blue, bottle green color stones in the base of Indian rupa is always available for any kind of occasion. It has also become a client favorite. A sky blue jamdani with 'Selene' can be a fantastic combination. This set is also available in various color combos.
Another popular item from them is called 'Hera'. This bangle is round shaped, made of Indian silver and has a comprehensive colorful meena work. It can be used for traditional ensembles or paired as a contrast for contemporary outfits.
Price range of A8poure products is between 500 BDT – 4000 BDT+. Orders can be placed from their Facebook and Instagram handle. A8poure is planning to enhance their business in Europe and U.S.A..
