Google services down for many users from Monday

Thousands of users on Monday posted on Twitter ventilating their frustration that they cannot access their Google accounts.
The problem first started with Gmail at 8:30pm Monday night. Later, at around 12:09am early Tuesday, users started to have issues while trying to sign in to their Google accounts.
Google first acknowledged the problem at 12:53am early Tuesday. The latest status update on G Suite Status Dashboard, posted at 1:59am, suggests that ‘the problem should be resolved for the vast majority of affected users’.
Due to the problem, users saw an error that says ‘Something went wrong’ while trying to log in to their Google accounts.
Thousands of Internet users across the globe posted about the unexpected error on Twitter; some were even panicking about the security of their Google accounts. Majority of the users mentioned that they had faced difficulties to access Google accounts via Google Chrome and Chromebook.
Some of the Twitter users shared an ‘outage map’ that showed US users had faced the maximum amount of outage.
The problem occurred while users tried to sign in to ‘Google services via OAuth’ on Chrome devices, according to a status update of ‘G Suite Status Dashboard’.
OAuth is an authorisation protocol. It allows a third-party website or application to access a user’s data without the user needing to share login credentials.
Google uses OAuth protocol to allow the users to use all the services by signing in once.
