Samsung to bring its first glasses-free 3D gaming monitor
Samsung has unveiled its latest Odyssey gaming monitor, the Odyssey 3D, set to hit the market later this year in 27-inch and 37-inch sizes.
This new monitor offers an exciting feature: it can convert 2D visuals into glasses-free 3D using advanced eye-tracking technology, reports The Verge.
The Odyssey 3D allows users to switch seamlessly between 2D and 3D modes, providing flexibility for those who want to explore 3D gaming without fully committing. It is the first of its kind from Samsung, following an earlier concept display revealed at CES.
Key specifications include a 4K QLED panel with a high 165Hz refresh rate and a quick 1-millisecond response time. It also supports AMD FreeSync, ensuring smooth gameplay. For connectivity, the monitor is equipped with one DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 ports. The stand is adjustable in both tilt and height, helping users achieve the best position for 3D viewing.
The glasses-free 3D effect is achieved through a lenticular lens that directs separate images to each eye, combined with an eye-tracking camera that adjusts the depth perception dynamically. This system, similar to Acer's SpatialLabs technology, provides an immersive experience for one viewer at a time.
Samsung has yet to disclose the price, but based on previous Odyssey models and comparable products currently on the market, it is anticipated to be in the premium price range.
