Singapore to review employment policies regarding foreign workers: Singapore PM
The government is also taking up policies for companies to mandate prioritising Singaporeans in the PMET (professional, manager, executive and technician) positions
Singapore will be reviewing its policies regarding foreign workers employed in their territory and working pass very soon.
The statement was given by Singaporean PM Lee Hsien Loong at the parliament session today, reports CNA.
Right now, Singapore offers work permits to foreigners in different visa schemes including S pass, work permit for foreign workers and work permit for domestic workers. Most of the Bangladeshis who work in Singapore are employed under these permits.
"Due to Covid-19, we have seen a slump in migrant workers, especially under S visa. Economic benefits of Singapore's foreign worker policies are very clear. We are always on the side of the Singaporeans," said PM Lee.
The government is also taking up policies for companies to mandate prioritising Singaporeans in the PMET (professional, manager, executive and technician) positions.
