6 Bangladeshi nationals deported from Assam
This year, the Assam government so far has sent back 49 Bangladeshi nationals
Six Bangladeshi nationals were sent back to Bangladesh from the Sutarkandi International Border check post in Karimganj district of Assam, India.
The Indian authorities had handed them over to Bangladesh authorities following legal procedures, reports India Today.
The Bangladeshi nationals, hailed from the Cox's Bazar, were detained by police in different parts of the state after they entered India without valid documents, according to a police official of Karimganj district.
"We have deported them to Bangladesh after completing the legal process and consultation with the authorities of Bangladesh, " the police official said.
"They were lodged at Goalpara and Kokrajhar detention camps, and the Government Railway Police had arrested them."
This year, the Assam government so far has sent back 49 Bangladeshi nationals.
Earlier on 2 November, the Assam government deported 42 Bangladeshi nationals.
