US Election 2020: Biden’s media endorsement titans over Trump’s
More than 50 prominent newspapers have endorsed Biden
The newspapers in the US have been endorsing presidential candidates for a long time.
Endorsements appear in the editorial section of the newspaper. These endorsements are specific declarations or statements of support for a political candidate. This candidate could be seeking the presidency or any number of local political offices.
With the US Election 2020 scheduled for November 3 of this year, the US newspapers have already endorsed the candidate of their preference, or made it public should they not want to endorse anyone.
The Democratic Party candidate Joe Biden has been at the forefront of securing endorsement form the US media, with news outlets like the New York Times, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times endorsing the former vice-president for this year's election. More than 50 prominent newspapers have endorsed Biden.
The Washington Post on September 28 said, "It is fortunate to have, in Joe Biden, a candidate who can lead an administration that is both honorable and successful."
In their endorsing editorial, The New York Times said, "He has the experience, temperament and character to guide the nation through this valley into a brighter, more hopeful future. He has our endorsement for the presidency."
On October 8, The Gazette wrote, "Biden will seek progress on racial justice, his economic policies will look beyond simply enacting tax cuts that primarily benefit the wealthy, and he can restore the nation's credibility on the world stage after Trump shredded relations with our longtime allies."
President Trump on the other hand has been able to garner endorsements from Santa Barbara News Press and Las Vegas Review- Journal.
The Santa Barbara News- Press and Las Vegas Review- Journal had endorsed Trump in the last election against Hillary Clinton as well.
New York city based weekly newspaper The Jewish Voice is also endorsing Trump for the second time.
Most of the news agencies that are backing up Biden in 2020 elections, backed up Hillary in the 2016 elections.
