Exports from Bangladesh to be affected
The new rules might increase the trade gap between the two countries by posing a barrier to the export of Bangladeshi apparels to the Indian market
Inspections of consignments by the Indian customs authority that began following the enforcement of new customs rules in that country will affect our exports. This will be treated as a non-tariff barrier.
There are two additional documents we have to submit before the shipment of a consignment – the cost sheet and the Section 3 declaration. This adds three additional days to the shipment.
The Indian side is reassuring that this will not affect Bangladesh's exports. They want to keep eyes on Chinese-origin products, which will create some additional pressure on China.
Bangladeshi readymade garment is a major export item to India. The new rules might increase the trade gap between the two countries by posing a barrier to the export of Bangladeshi apparels to the Indian market.
