The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) in Rajshahi has sealed an shop and fined two others for selling eggs at exorbitant prices.
In a raid today (15 October) in Terkhadia Dabtola, Shalbagan, and the suburban areas of the city, we found that DS Enterprise, a dealer for Kazi Farms and Nabil Group, was selling broiler eggs at a higher price than the fixed rate. Due to this his shop was sealed, Masum Ali, assistant director of the district's DNCRP, told The Business Standard.
"Abdul Karim, the owner of the shop, was purchasing each egg at Tk11.01 but selling it at Tk12.40," he added.
The officer further said, "Two other shops in the areas were fined Tk20,000 and Tk2,000 respectively for selling eggs at higher prices."
He also mentioned that such raids will continue.
