At least two people were killed after a bus and a truck collided head-on on the Faridpur-Barishal highway in the Bashagari area in Faridpur's Nagarkanda upazila today (12 January).
The accident, which also left 30 others injured, took place at around 7:45am, according to witnesses and firefighters.
Two passengers were killed on the spot when the Arif-Meem Paribahan bus collided with the truck and crashed into a roadside ditch, said locals.
As many as 30 other bus passengers also sustained different degrees of injuries. They were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
Fire Service and Civil Defence officials suspect the accident may have occurred due to dense fog and the bad condition of the highway.
The collision caused gridlock on both sides of the highway, which the police later cleared.
