20 injured in clash between two BNP groups in Brahmanbaria
Police arrested six people with domestic weapons from the spot
At least 20 people, including 10 policemen, have been injured in a clash between two groups of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in Brahmanbaria over giving flowers at Shaheed Minar on the occasion of the golden jubilee of independence on Friday.
Brahmanbaria Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Crime) Rais Uddin confirmed the matter to the Business Standard.
Police and locals said supporters of Sarail upazila BNP member secretary Nuruzzaman Lashkar Tapu and former upazila BNP general secretary Anwar Hossain came to lay flowers at the central Shaheed Minar in Sarail in the morning. Clashes broke out between the two sides due to arguments while giving flowers separately.
Police arrested six people with domestic weapons from the spot.
"Among the police members, Second Officer Zakir Hossain injured badly. Additional police have been deployed at the spot. Currently, the situation is under control," Brahmanbaria Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Crime) Rais Uddin said.
