21 Bangladeshi peacekeepers in Sudan get UN Medal
Masuk Mia, operations officer of the FPU told The Business Standard that Ahmado Manna, major general and police chief of staff at the UNAMID, handed over the medal to the Bangladeshi policemen at an event in the African country on Monday.
Twenty-one members of the Bangladesh Formed Police Unit (FPU) serving with the United Nations-African Union Hybrid Operations in Darfur (UNAMID) have been awarded the UN Medal for their excellent roles in the African country.
Masuk Mia, operations officer of the FPU told The Business Standard that Ahmado Manna, major general and police chief of staff at the UNAMID, handed over the medal to the Bangladeshi policemen at an event in the African country on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, Major General Ahmado Manna said the United Nations-African Union Hybrid Operations in Darfur has been serving since 2007 where members of Bangladesh police are performing their duties with excellence and professionalism.

Bangladesh policemen working in that mission took many steps to establish peace as well as develop the living standard of local people in the country, creating a positive image of Bangladesh in the UN peacekeeping mission.
"This is a great day for me. We have been performing our duty in Darfur since 2007. It was not easy for us. We have undergone many challenges while performing duties in the mission," Said Masuk Mia.
The Bangladeshi policemen who received the medal include Superintendent of Police Moktar Hossain, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Hasan, Superintendent of Police Rezwana Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police Abdur Rahman, Operations Officer Masuk Mia, inspectors Abul Kalam, Nazmul Hossain, Uday Kumar, Afroza Akter, Imran Hossain, and Mahtab Hossain.
