21 Shyambazar warehouses fined Tk40.50 lakh
The court sealed Maksit Trading while other traders were fined different amounts of money
A RAB mobile court has fined 21 warehouses at the capital's Shyambazar wholesale market Tk40.50 lakh and sentenced six traders to different jail terms for selling onion, garlic, potatoes and ginger at higher prices.
The traders hiked the prices of essential products amidst the coronavirus outbreak. In this situation, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-10 conducted a mobile court at the market on Sunday to protect consumer rights.
The court sealed Maksit Trading while other traders were fined different amounts of money.
RAB Headquarters Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam operated the court with the help of RAB-10 Deputy Commander Major Shahriar Ziaur Rahman.
Sarwar Alam said coronavirus has already created panic among the people. Amidst this, some unscrupulous traders are selling onion, garlic, potato and ginger at higher prices.
