27 km tailback on Dhaka-Tangail highway
An accident has caused a traffic jam on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge Highway spanning 27 km.
The tailback starting near Bangabandhu Bridge ended near Ashekpur Bypass of Sadar Upazila of Tangail on the highway from Friday morning.
Northbound passengers are suffiering more due to the high traffic pressure on their lane.
A Northbound bus driver Hazur Rahman said, "I got into a traffic jam in Rasulpur at 5 am. It took me about two and a half hours to travel 1km."
Elenga highway police outpost officer-in-charge (OC) Yasir Arafat said a truck crashed near Bridge No 17 on the eastern highway of Bangabandhu Bridge in the early hours of Friday.
"No casualties were reported. However, it took a long time to remove the truck, causing traffic jams in places," he added.
