3 of a family electrocuted in Mirpur rainwater laid to rest
The three of a family, who died on Thursday night after being electrocuted as a live wire fell in rainwater in Dhaka's Mirpur, were buried in Jhalokathi on Saturday.
The bodies of Mizan, his wife Mukta Begum and their daughter Lima Aktar were taken to their ancestral home in the district and their janazas were held at 9:00am on Saturday. Later, they were buried in their family graveyard.
The incident of electrocution took place around 10pm on Thursday in front of Commerce College in Mirpur.
Five people were electrocuted in the area and were taken to Suhrawardy Hospital where the doctor on duty declared four of them dead.
Several areas of the capital, including Mirpur 10, Mirpur 11, Shyamoli, Mohammadpur, Dhanmondi, Purana Paltan, Gulistan, Bangshal Road, Bijoy Sarani, Eskaton, Farmgate and Tejgaon were submerged due to the heavy rainfall on Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, the father of another victim Anik on Friday filed a case with the Mirpur Model Police Station, accusing unidentified individuals of negligence.
