3,796 LGED employees demand job regularisation
They were appointed to different posts under several LGED projects and most of the master role staffers have been working for 20-25 years
Some 3,796 officials and employees working for different projects under the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) have pressed home their demand for job regularisation.
They made the demand at a human chain held in front of the National Press Club on Friday morning.
According to the programme participants, they were appointed to different posts under several LGED projects and most of the master role staffers have been working for 20-25 years.

Earlier, they were given assurance of job regularisation multiple times, but to no avail.
They said they have not received any satisfactory decision from the authorities concerned in this regard.
"Finally, we turned to the High Court as the last resort in the period between 2010 and 2014 and the court gave its verdict in our favour," added the job seekers.
When the High Court directed the LGED authorities to bring the jobs of the employees under the revenue sector, more than 2,500 employees out of about 6,000 were brought under the revenue sector while the rest are still deprived of the opportunity.
Rajib Hossain Rajan, the spokesperson of the LGED employees, spoke to the media at the human chain.
He said, "It is our longstanding demand. Now we want a satisfactory final outcome. We have no other issue but this."
"A lot of time has gone by from our life since we joined the LGED. We want the government to take our case seriously."
Other demands raised at the human chain include payment of arrears and inclusion of the provision of equitable rights.
