Narayanganj fire: CID identifies 45 dead bodies
Probe bodies are yet to submit reports
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has identified 45 among 48 deceased burnt beyond recognition in the incident of fire at Shezan Juice factory in Narayanganj last month, after DNA tests at its forensics laboratory.
The bodies will be handed over to their families. However, three victims could not be identified yet, Additional Superintendent of CID Azad Rahman told The Business Standard on Monday.
Rumana Akter, special superintendent of police of the CID Forensic team told TBS 30 are women among the dead bodies identified.

At least 51 workers died in the deadly fire that engulfed the six-storey building at Rupganj on 8 July. Four of the bodies were handed over to the families after autopsy.
As the rest of the bodies could not be identified, the CID on 12 July collected samples from 66 relatives of victims for DNA tests.
CID Additional Deputy Inspector General Imam Hossain hoped that they would be able to identify the three dead bodies through manual investigation – by talking to the family members – within a week.
Imam Hossain said they were focusing on ten points in the investigation. The investigation team has already visited the scene and talked to several injured workers.
Meanwhile, Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Director Debashis Bardhan told TBS the fire broke out from an electrical short circuit in the exhaust fan of the ground floor which melted in the fire at that time.
Fire Service led probe body is yet to submit the probe report. The report might be submitted by this week.
Meanwhile, two probe bodies formed by the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments and District Administration have asked for more time to submit their findings.
"The inquiry committee has asked for seven more working days to submit the report. I hope they will finish the investigation quickly and submit it. Details can be told after the report is received. Nothing can be said before that," said Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Narayanganj Mustain Billah.
