5 detained for chanting ‘Joy Bangla’ on DU campus, sent to jail in another case
Five people were held and handed over to police by Chhatra Dal leaders and activists last night (29 January) for chanting the slogan "Joy Bangla" in the Dhaka University (DU) area.
They were detained from the Mall Chattar area of DU.
Shahbagh Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khalid Mansoor said they were sent to jail after producing them in court today (30 January).
He said the detainees have been questioned. After the interrogation, they were shown arrested in an old case in which they were found involved.
Meanwhile, a video of Chhatra Dal leaders questioning those accused have surfaced on social media.
The police were also with them at that time. At one stage of the interrogation, one of the accused confessed to raising the slogan.
