5 die in Kaptai Lake, 3 missing in Karnaphuli

At least five people have reportedly died as a tourist boat capsized in Rangamati's Kaptai Lake on Friday.
Meanwhile, another three people went missing after a boat carrying tourists capsized in the Karnaphuli River in Kaptai upazila under the district on the day.
The missing persons are Binoy, 5, Tumpa Mazumder, 30, and Debleela, 10.
On Friday morning, a tourist boat capsized in Kaptai Lake adjacent to the DC Bungalow in Rangamati, killing five. Additional Superintendent of Police Sufy Ullah confirmed this to The Business Standard.
The on-duty doctor at Rangamati Sadar Hospital, Shawkat Akber said the bodies of the five deceased have arrived in the hospital.
Regarding the boat accident in the Karnaphuli River, Sufy Ullah said a boat carrying a picnic party of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) capsized in Karnaphuli River in Kaptai upazila. Law enforcers rescued several people but the three remained missing.
The local administration was continuing the rescue operation, he said.
