India also shares responsibility for the recent acts of vandalism across Bangladesh, including Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's residence at Dhanmondi 32, Deputy Press Secretary of the Chief Adviser Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar said today (7 February).
"Sheikh Hasina, facing genocide charges and an arrest warrant from the International Crimes Tribunal, is inciting violence from India. Following the warrant's issuance, Bangladesh also issued a note verbale to India for her extradition, but no response has been received yet," he told journalists at Chittagong Press Club.
"This lack of reaction has fuelled instability in the country due to Hasina's statements from there [India]," Azad added.
Speaking on the government's stance regarding the recent vandalism, the deputy press secretary said, "The government has already made its position clear through multiple statements."
He further mentioned that during the chief adviser's recent visit to Davos, he held numerous meetings and invited further foreign investment, particularly focusing on the Chattogram port.
In response to questions about rising commodity prices, Azad suggested that journalists in Chattogram could investigate and report on the various stages of product imports to provide the public with a clearer picture of market dynamics.
He also stated that the CA Press Wing is actively working against misinformation and fake news. "Even globally renowned media outlets had spread false information about Bangladesh. The press wing tackled the issue strongly, leading those media houses to retract their misinformation."
