5 get life sentence for bus helper's murder in Faridpur

A Faridpur court today (18 September) sentenced five people to life imprisonment for the murder of a bus helper in Faridpur.
Judge Shihabul Islam of the Additional District and Sessions Judge Second Court handed down the verdict.
Each convicted individual was also fined Tk10,000, with an additional three months in prison if the fine is not paid.
The five convicted were present in court during the announcement of the judgement.
They were subsequently taken into custody by police and sent to jail.
The convicted individuals are Johnny Molla, Mehdi Abu Kawsar, Robin Molla, Rajes Rabidas and Sajjad Hossain Matubbar.
On 24 October 2019, the body of helper Saddam Hossain was found on a New Nupur Paribahan bus in Faridpur. A murder case was filed at Kotwali Police Station over the incident.
After a lengthy investigation, the police submitted a charge sheet against the accused individuals in November 2020.
Public Prosecutor Md Sanwar Hossain confirmed the verdict, stating that the court reached its decision after a thorough review of the case.
He emphasised that the verdict upholds the rule of law in Bangladesh.
