Macron hopes for inclusive, secure Indo-Pacific space in his letter to President

President of France Emmanuel Macron has sent a letter to his Bangladeshi counterpart Abdul Hamid on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of Bangladesh's declaration of independence.
In his letter, the French President highlighted the brave history of Bangladesh's independence.
Terming Bangladesh a young and promising state, Macron commended the courage of the Bangladeshi people who defended their cultural heritage and freedom at the call of the Father of the Bangladeshi Nation.

"Undoubtedly, the late-president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, whose 100th birthday we have just celebrated, would have been proud of the achievements of the Bangladeshi nation," Macron added in his letter.
Emanuel Macron praised the progress Bangladesh has made in the economic and human development sectors even during the pandemic.
He also showed his respect to the Bangladeshi government and people for providing shelter to the widely-persecuted Rohingya minorities.
He said, "The Bangladeshi government and people have shown their generosity by welcoming the Rohingyas forced to flee Myanmar in 2017."
Calling Bangladesh a responsible power, Macron applauded the fact that Bangladesh is the main provider of troops for the peacekeeping operations in the world.
He further praised Bangladesh for defending multilateralism and the norms of international law.
Macron also commended Bangladesh's defence of the environment and access to essential global public goods, such as health.
Macron said, "In 1971, André Malraux called on the world to support the freedom of the Bengalis. Half a century later, Bangladesh can be proud of its achievements."
The French President also stated that France will be with Bangladesh in their ongoing journey towards development.
"France remains ready to meet Bangladesh's needs in the areas of the environment, energy, telecommunications, the blue economy, and sovereignty in matters of defence and security," he said in the letter.
Macron concluded the letter hoping for an inclusive, open and secure Indo-Pacific space.
