The government has granted merit-based promotions to 764 officials of various ranks who were deprived during the previous government.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification to this end today (9 February).
According to the notifications, 119 officials were elevated to secretary, 528 to additional secretary, 41 to grade-1, 72 to joint secretary, and 4 to deputy secretary.
"The officials will receive all financial benefits according to the rules from the date of their promotion to one or more posts. Half of their dues will be paid in the current fiscal year, with the remaining 50 percent to be paid in the next fiscal year," it added.
The notification also mentioned that the concerned officer will be considered as having remained in service in the last promoted post until reaching the age of 57 or 59.
They will be regarded as retired from government service on the retirement date, after completing post-retirement leave or retirement preparation leave.
Officers will receive financial benefits by adjusting their arrears of salary, allowances, and pension according to the rules.
Any earlier orders for post-retirement leave (PRL) or leave preparatory to retirement (LPR) have been cancelled, and these will be adjusted during salary determination, reads the notification.
Earlier, the Deprivation Elimination Committee submitted its report to the Chief Adviser on 10 December, recommending promotions of these officers.
