A diecast collector's paradise: Inside DCBD Convention 2025
The event brought together over 1000 attendees to the event who shared similar admiration for model cars

On 7th February, 2025, Diecast Collectors of Bangladesh (DCBD), a community of diecast enthusiasts, organised their second diecast convention after a five-year hiatus. After the first scale model exhibition in 2019, the "DCBD Convention 2025" took place at Mirpur's Riddhi Book Cafe, where collectors came together to connect with individuals sharing the same hobby.
The event targeting diecast hobbyists brought together over 1000 attendees to the event who shared similar admiration for model cars. An eager crowd of diecast fans unified to showcase and appreciate each other's prized collections.

The venue consisted of around 28 pre-booked display tables where an estimated 2000 models were showcased by different collectors. From cars, bikes, military tanks to aviation, the event did not lack diversity. Models from various acclaimed brands, such as, Hotwheels, Tomica, Matchbox, Inno64, MiniGT, TimeMicro, Autoart, M2 Machines, IXO, and many more lined the tables.
It wasn't only limited to scale model cars. There were custom-made dioramas featuring diecast cars of different scales, starting from 1:144 to 1:18. The venue also had various stalls as well, also by the members of DCBD. From them, the notable ones include a tshirt stall by Unique Outfits, selling instantly printed automotive tshirts, a book stall and various diecast stalls as well. Adding to the array of booths, Start Daily offered a VR experience to the visitors.

Three different contests were organised to make the event more engaging for the visitors. Namely, a diorama contest, a custom modified diecast model contest, and a photography contest. The top three prizes for each contest included: 1/43 Mercedes-Benz 6.3 300 SEL by Official Mercedes Benz, 1/43 McLaren P1 by IXO, 1/43 Peugeot Rally cross by IXO.

A raffle draw for every visitor was organised to add more excitement to the event, where the winners had the chance of winning different diecast models from various brands.Ten lucky winners of the draw were given 1/64 diecast of renowned brands like Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Greenlight and M2 machines. A crowd of eager attendees assembled in hopes of adding a model to their collection.

DCBD made a strong comeback after a brief pause with 2025's diecast convention. The event witnessed many new collectors from young enthusiasts to senior collectors who shared their passion and fondness for model cars. A group photo and a cake cutting ceremony by the admins summed up a wholesome evening that brought together people from different paths of life to celebrate their shared interest in scale models.
