9 bank accounts of Hasina’s cousin Jewel, family frozen
BFIU froze the bank accounts for next thirty days
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has asked banks to freeze nine accounts of the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina's cousin, Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel, and his family members.
"Any accounts held in their name or owned by their personal businesses should be suspended for the next 30 days," the BFIU directed banks concerned in a letter sent today (9 October).
Other individuals whose bank accounts have been frozen are: Shahana Yasmin, Sheikh Jalal Uddin Rubel, Sheikh Sohel Uddin, Sheikh Tasmia Sunerah, Tah Mina Kabir, Sheikh Belal Uddin Babu, Sheikh Fardin Naser, and Sheikh Wahida Sultana.
Sheikh Salahuddin was born in Khulna district. His father is Sheikh Abu Naser, the youngest brother of the Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and his mother is Razia Naser Dolly.
