9th Asian Tourism Fair begins 29 September
The three-day 9th Asian Tourism Fair (ATF) will be held at the International Convention City Bashundhara, Dhaka from 29 September till 1 October.
Around 130 tourism companies from about 18 countries are going to participate in the exhibition.
Travel magazine Parjatan Bichitra, organiser of the fair, held a press conference in this connection at a city hotel on Sunday.
The major participants of the fair are hotel, motel, resort, cruise line, airline, tour operator and theme park.
At the press conference, State Minister for Tourism Mahbub Ali said that the country has introduced visa-on-arrival since May last year. But the visa process has to be simplified to attract foreign tourists, he added.
"The formulation of the long-expected master plan is almost at the last stage which would be available within December this year. Through this plan, our tourism industry will move to a rich destination," he said.
Over 50 companies from Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, Bhutan, India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Lithuania will take part in the fair with holiday packages along with special offers for the upcoming tourism season in both home and abroad, Mohiuddin Helal, editor of the Parjatan Bichitra said at the press conference.
The fair would open for the visitors from 10am until 7pm everyday where the entrance fee will be Tk30.
