ACC sues ex-minister Nuruzzaman, family for acquiring over Tk8 crore illegal assets
The anti graft body also found suspicious transaction totaling Tk134 crore in their accounts
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed three separate cases against former social welfare minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed, his wife Mst Hosne Ara, and their son Md Rakibuzzaman Ahmed for allegedly acquiring assets beyond their known sources of income.
The cases were filed under the ACC Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act today (3 February), said ACC Director General (Prevention) Md Akhter Hossain.
In the first case, Nuruzzaman Ahmed is accused of illegally acquiring assets worth Tk5.31 crore and conducting suspicious transactions amounting to Tk62.08 crore across 31 bank accounts.
The second case charges Nuruzzaman and his wife, Mst Hosne Ara Begum, with illegally amassing Tk1.22 crore in assets and engaging in suspicious transactions totaling Tk50.43 crore across 25 bank accounts.
The third case implicates Nuruzzaman and his son Md Rakibuzzaman Ahmed, accusing them of acquiring Tk2.06 crore in assets inconsistent with their known income sources.
Additionally, Rakibuzzaman allegedly made suspicious transactions worth Tk22.43 crore across 10 bank accounts in his name.
