Adviser Hassan Ariff's 3rd namaj-e-janaza held
Arrif, who oversaw the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and the Ministry of Land, suffered a massive cardiac arrest and passed away yesterday
The third namaz-e-janaza of the interim government's adviser AF Hassan Ariff was held at the Bangladesh Secretariat premises at around 12pm today (21 December).
Earlier, his second janaza was held on the High Court premises at around 11:10am.
Arrif, who was an adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism and the Ministry of Land, suffered a massive cardiac arrest and passed away at a hospital in the capital yesterday (20 December). He was 85.
His first janaza was held at the Baitul Aman Mosque on Dhanmondi Road 7 after the Isha prayers last night. Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus attended it along with other members of the Advisory Council and other government officials.
The second janaza today was attended by Ariff's family members, the chief justice, justices of the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, and High Court, lawyers, Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain, eminent jurist Dr Kamal Hossain, and many more.
The third janaza was attended by family members, Ariff's colleagues, secretaries of different ministries and departments, and officials of the secretariat.
While some reports said decisions regarding his burial would be taken after the arrival of his daughter from abroad, others said Ariff would be buried at the Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard at Mirpur on Monday (23 December).
Ariff was appointed as an adviser to the interim government on August 8. The following day, he was entrusted with overseeing the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD).
On August 27, he took on additional responsibilities as the adviser to the Ministry of Land.
On November 10, he was released from the LGRD Ministry and tasked with managing the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism while continuing to oversee the land ministry.
